Taytay Tigre in Iloilo - Philippines

One of the small, interesting and beautiful bridges in the province of Iloilo, Taytay Tigre is visited by some tourists who happen to travel to the place because of its historic value. The bridge is easy to find since it is situated in one of the popular municipalities of the province, Guimbal. There are also some attractions that people can see when they visit this site. How to Get to the Sightseeing Site

Situated at the town of Guimbal in the province of Iloilo, Taytay Tigre is not that hard or difficult to find. In order for tourists from Manila to reach this tourist attraction, they need to ride in planes bound to the airport of Iloilo. Another way of reaching the place is by riding in boats or vessels that transport people to the seaport of Iloilo. From these two ports, there are numerous taxis and jeepneys that can take them to the town of Guimbal. Before they reach the town proper, they can already see this small but historic bridge.

What to See

As they reach the sightseeing spot, people can find two stone structures of tigers at the ends of the bridge that is also known as Spanish Arch Bridge. These structures are the reason why the bridge is named by early residents in the place as Taytay Tigre. Surrounding the 4.5 square meter bridge are residential houses, as well as some retail stores. This bridge is only few minutes away from other tourist destinations like Guimbal town plaza and Guimbal Church.

History

The small bridge was built during the Spanish colonial years in the Philippines. Built by several Augustinian priests including Alforas, Campa, as well as Ramon Juico, this site is considered as one of the early arch bridges in the province. To attract tourists to the site, this bridge was reconstructed and restored on September 10, 1984 by veteran Nick Garbo. Visiting this sightseeing spot is very easy since people do not need to spend too much just to see the tourist site. All they have to prepare to reach this place is for the transportation costs, which is less than 100 pesos, given that tourists will be coming from Iloilo city. With the attractive sites and the historic value of this tourist destination, people can surely have relaxing and comfortable time at this place.
