Igbaras Mountain Ranges in Iloilo - Philippines

A big part of the tourist attractions in Iloilo are its nature spots and trails. There are plenty to choose from, but one that is often part of a travelers itinerary are the Igbaras mountain ranges.

As you approach the Igbaras mountain ranges, you will see that from the left side the beautiful Tarugan Falls are visible. If you approach the site during the summertime, it will appear in a lovely dark orange, coated with dark browns and greens, contrasting nicely with the azure skies. The lower parts of the mountains are covered with shrubs and trees of varying shades of green.

The Igbaras mountain ranges are one of the very few here in the Philippines that offers you a clear unobstructed view all around. From the peak you can see the towns of Miagao, Tubungan and of Igbaras itself. Also visible from the mountain are the fields around Sitio Cabubugan. The highest peak is Mount Napulak, which soars up to almost 4,000 ft into the skies. If you make it to the top you can see in the early mornings spectacular views of the equally beautiful Mount Kanlaon in Negros Occidental.

Going to the Igbaras mountain ranges requires some prior planning, and the best way to do this is to go to the office of the Department of Tourism. It is located at Iloilo City, right alongside the Museo Iloilo and the Capitol building. Once you are there they can provide you with the information you need to get to the Igbaras mountain ranges and also offer you guides. This is best done a couple of days before you decide to go mountain climbing.

The usual route that is given for getting to the mountains is from Poblacion to Bagay, or from Poblacion to Tigbanaba. Both will take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours to get there, but it will vary depending on where you are. The tourism office will not only get you the guide but also arrange the transportation at very reasonable prices.

If you are planning to go mountain climbing, be sure to stock up on water, as you cannot get anymore when you get to the top. Camping is also allowed, but it can be quite cold even during the summer, so bring the appropriate clothing.

The beauty and resplendent sights around the Igbaras mountain ranges have turned this area into a veritable paradise on Earth. If you are looking for a place to get away from the noise in the city, you may consider this your sanctuary.
